Mission Found

Where It All Began
After climbing the career ladder, first as an engineer and then moving into business. I hit the stage in my life when I realized money, title, and positional power were no longer meaningful enough for me. Looking back, it is clear to me now that those goals were all very inward focused. Fulfillment would not be found there for me.
The Shift
I started looking outward, asking myself, ‘how could I apply my God-given gifts and talents to serve the world, to serve others?’ I started leading small groups in church and mentoring young professional women and realized I was onto something! I went back into consulting, or so I thought, until an opportunity presented itself and I bit like a fish. A door opened and I eagerly walked through it. The address on that door was ‘leadership and life coach.’ On the other side of that door, I realized some things:
- I very much enjoy the role
- Much of my natural wiring serves me well in the role
- I have been coaching for much of my life without realizing it
- I have a true passion for it
And the experience has shaped some of my most motivating beliefs. These are:
- Everyone can benefit from a coach
- Everyone deserves a coach
- Most people would live happier and more productive lives with the support of a coach.
A New Purpose
I have found a new life purpose, one in service of others, that of a leadership and life coach. In fact, the terms ‘leadership’ and ‘life’ are a bit redundant but help to make the distinction between two forms of leadership. The first form, and the one that comes to mind first for many, is leadership of others, whether in business, family, community, or any other group of people working together to accomplish something. The second form of leadership is that of self and it is where life comes in. Leadership is, at its core, about providing a direction, as in a compass reading, and assemblance of resources necessary to get there. My role then, is helping others to lead better, whether it be leading self or others, and is usually a combination of the two.
So what get’s me excited about my role as a coach? I have the honor and privilege of helping individuals get clarity where there was none before, acquire an awareness that clarity was even needed in the first place, and to experience personal growth and quite possibly, transformation. I have the pleasure of lightening the load on the road to discovery of the answers. I remove the blindfold and dust off the map, revealing the treasure and the way to it. Meanwhile, my reward is not found in the treasure but rather in the journey to find it, the celebration of its discovery, and seeing it multiply with all who are touched by it, and impacted by the richness it brings, whether they be in the organization, the family, or in the community touched by the individual.
I help leaders and individuals find greater success and life fulfillment through awareness, clarity, exploration and discovery.
This is my passion. This is my mission.
